The Rotary Club of Portland in The Oregonian

PORTLAND — The Rotary Club of Portland recently named Nihad Aweidah as the 2015 recipient of its Kenyon T. Bement Award.

Each year, this award is presented to a member of the Rotary Club that demonstrates selfless contribution represents the Rotary's commitment to the community.

Aweidah, a real estate broker for Windermere Stellar, has been a Rotary member for 15 years. During that time he has organized the Rotary's annual golf tournament, coordinated the international dinner, and co-chaired the holiday dinner dance. He was also recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, a title given to those who donate more than $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

Aweidah began his real estate career at Windermere Stellar in 1999 and has been instrumental in fundraising for theWindermere Foundation by creating and organizing Windermere Stellar's annual golf tournament. Over the past six years, the tournament has raised nearly $225,000, with proceeds benefitting local nonprofits who serve low-income children and families.

The Rotary Club of Portland is one of the largest rotary clubs in the world. Members dedicate themselves to the Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self" by volunteering to create meaningful change in Portland and throughout the world.
